British cycling
British Cycling is the internationally recognised governing body of cycling in the UK. It administers the sport in the following disciplines: BMX, Cycle Speedway, Cyclo-Cross, Mountain Bike, Road and Track. In conjunction with its funding partners, British Cycling has a five year strategy for the development of cycling.
As the governing body of cycling, British Cycling has a range of responsibilities, which, for operational purposes, the organisation groups under two main headings:
Excellence
British Cycling runs the lottery-funded GB Cycling Teams in Road, Track, Mountain Bike Cross-Country and Paralympic cycling and is offering an increasing amount of support to the GB team in non-Olympic disciplines. The teams are selected, managed and equipped to a high standard and in the last five years, Great Britain has made significant progress up the rankings in most cycling disciplines. .
Participation
British Cycling members have access to an extensive events programme, racing licences and a range of benefits. British Cycling underpins cycling with programmes focusing on Facilities, Major Events, Coaching, Volunteers, Club Development and Grass-Roots participation. The organisation is also committed to broadening the base of participation in leisure cycling in the UK. .

Crest Cycling Club
We are a long-established friendly club based in East London/Essex border with members living in Essex, East London, Suffolk, Herts and Cambs, and welcome new members. Our focus is very much on the social side of cycling.
There are weekly clubruns and frequent trips both on road and mountain bikes to participate in sportives, Audaxes and challenge rides. Every summer there are a couple of cycling tours, always the Tour de France and usually another European destination too. Between Christmas and New Year is the annual Crestmas Tour, often to the Cotswolds.
Our members enjoy racing with success in both road, mountain biking and time trialling, at both local and national level.
We have our own bungalow, Stag Hall, set in pretty Essex countryside near Stansted, available for hire by members and non-members.
We meet monthly, first Thursday of each month, at Wanstead Rugby Club, Roding Lane North, Ilford, Essex, IG8 8JY, from 8pm.
Prospective members are most welcome to our monthly clubnight or weekly clubruns.

The website of Britain's most challenging and spectacular Elite single day cycle road race. A race which is totally unique in Britain, and takes competitors where no other race dares.
In just three years the race has gone from just another new domestic race within the Premier Calendar of British Cycling events, to an international race targetted and covetted by competitors from throughout Europe and beyond, as the race that they all want to win. The race though is not just about the competitors, it is about the creation of an unforgettable experience and wonderful day out for spectators , young and old, marvelling at the feats of the Elite riders as they literally 'pass through Hell'.

Hainault Road Club
The Hainault Roads Club was established in 1929 and it has a fine record in club, county and national cycling. Acknowledged as a club with a fine social programme and leisure cycling is provided most weekends. Once experienced, the pleasure of cycling along country lanes can become a habit. Okay, sometimes it is uphill, or raining but there is still the fresh air and companionship and the happy banter over a cup of tea and toast at Elevenses.
We are a very friendly club with over 100 members. We meet weekly at the Clubroom in Havering-atte-Bowers, organise weekly runs, and in the summer we organise an evening 10 series. We also promote 2 open events, The Hainault Hilly and The 2 up TTT.

Kettering Cycling Club was formed in 2000, through the amalgamation of the town’s two long standing clubs Kettering Amateur CC and Kettering Friendly CC. The club has in the region of 100 members, of which one-third race regularly. The club is best noted for its time trialling, with an annual series held on numerous courses. Kettering CC also runs mountain bike, road and open time trials races, plus we run a weekly club run over the winter period, at 9.30am every Sunday morning outside Sainsbury’s petrol station on Rockingham Road. The club now has gained ‘British Cycling’ Go-Ride status, where we run cycle sessions for people from 5 to 16 years old, on an off road area. This scheme runs all kinds of exciting skills and techniques, aimed at developing a rider’s bike ability and confidence all in a safe environment.
The club itself has a broad range of riders, both young and old, male and female from the most dedicated cyclist through to leisure cyclists. If you want to know any more about KCC either contact us, or just turn up to one of our events.

The League of Veteran Cyclists
The League of Veteran Racing Cyclists provides racing for cyclists who are veterans. To be eligible to join you must be 40 years of age or more; the League is open equally to male and female bike racers. Don't worry if you think you aren't fit enough to race - in the LVRC you are always allowed (encouraged, in fact) to compete in an older age group than your calendar age indicates. This is deliberately designed to help people get back into racing, and move up the groups as fitness starts to return.

Welwyn Wheelers
The Welwyn Wheelers Cycling Club is one of the premier cycling clubs in the South East of England and is accredited with Clubmark and British Cycling’s Go-ride status. Based at the Gosling Sports Park our key aim is to enable its members to participate in and promote cycling and cycle racing. The banked velodrome at the Sports Park affords us a unique opportunity to fulfil this aim.
The Welwyn Wheelers organise a variety of open races and open race meetings during the year. The foremost of these is the weekly track series which takes place on Friday evenings at the floodlit velodrome. We also promote several weekend track meetings, grass track meetings, a 50km individual hilly time trial held at Easter, an open road race and an open cyclocross competition held later in the year.
Club events include individual 10 mile time trials, a hill climb and a cyclocross competition. The time trials are open to both club members and visitors and are held every Tuesday on a local course. The hill climb takes place in October again on local roads while the cyclocross is held in December at the Sports Park.
We have regular training sessions through out the year. The club organises a Go-Ride session on Saturday mornings to provide skills training for riders (all ages welcome). These sessions are open to both club and non-club members. Cyclocross training starts in October together with ‘road bikes’ on the track. Club runs, which cater for riders with at least a modest level of fitness, start on the first Sunday in October. More intensive training on local roads starts in January. As part of the summers training programme, the club provides track coaching for all ages and specialised track bikes for hire for a small fee.
The club also runs a number of social activities such as mountain bike rides, treasure hunts and speed judging. Our annual Prize presentation is held after the club cyclocross in December.
